See the first remote operated STS cranes without driver’s cabin in operation at APM Terminals Maasvlakte 2 container terminal located in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
The construction of Maasvlakte 2 has been recognised by the award of the prof. dr. ir. J.F. Agema prize, which is awarded every five years to an innovative marine engineering work that was designed or constructed by a Dutch party.
Rotterdam World Gateway (RWG) celebrated the official opening of its highly innovative and automated container terminal at Maasvlakte 2 on 11th Septermber, 2015.
The Dutch inland waterways have the capacity to serve as an alternative to road and rail transport. Therefore Rijkswaterstaat initiated the IDVV programme. Within this programme public and private parties, knowledge institutes, shippers, carriers, ports and terminals cooperate to make better use of the waterways.
‘Pieter Schelte’, the biggest vessel in the world, is to be completed in the port of Rotterdam. Owner and designer Allseas and the Port of Rotterdam Authority have signed an agreement to this effect. The plan is for ‘Pieter Schelte’ to arrive in Rotterdam at the end of 2014.
