Samsung Heavy Industries Halts Block Production For Russian-Bound Zvezda Shipyard
On Tuesday, Samsung Heavy Industries announced that it had ceased producing equipment and blocks for ten of the 15 Arctic LNG carriers under contract with Zvezda.
With consent from the South Korean government, Samsung has begun supplying blocks and equipment for five of the vessels to Zvezda, the Russian shipyard which is manufacturing the carriers.
A Samsung representative stated on Tuesday that Samsung is nearing completion in producing the equipment and blocks for the five ships.
Per the spokeswoman, Samsung has ceased producing the equipment and blocks for the 10 remaining ships, although the contract has not yet been cancelled.
