The countdown is on for Royal Caribbean International’s next big thing coming to vacations, the ultimate short getaway: Utopia of the Seas is almost ready for its debut.

The next lineup of Oasis Class ships began five days of testing in the open ocean for the first time on May 7.

The sea trial, which is generally understood to be one of the final construction milestones, commences just ten weeks before the new vacation’s homecoming party and its official launch at Port Canaveral, Florida, in July 2024.

Over 900 specialists in naval architecture, navigation, engineering, and design are on Utopia to push the vessel to its limits to make sure it is ready to provide exceptional smooth sailing.

The teams are running their inspections and hundreds of tests, from how the vessel moves through open water and the functionalities of navigation systems to the ship’s engine performance, back-of-the-house technical inspections and so on.

This ultimate short getaway is expected to cover over 1,000 miles on its five-day trial.

Once it is done, it will be all systems go for the next phase of its construction at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard, based in France’s Saint-Nazaire.

Starting 19 July, Utopia will welcome guests to make more memories on short getaways as the first Oasis Class vessel to debut with three-night weekend and four-night weekday cruises.

Those interested can celebrate just a getaway or any special occasion with a lineup of signature experiences that bring excellent weekend energy and positivity to each day of the week.
