CMA CGM Group is pleased to announce that the CMA CGM TIGRIS, one of the latest CMA CGM vessels, will be calling the Port of Santos on February, 6th. CMA CGM will be the first carrier to introduce a vessel of such a capacity in Brazil.
The CMA CGM TIGRIS is a 10,622 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) vessel that will be added to the fixed-day and weekly SEAS2 service. It will call 13 ports, connecting Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay to China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and South Africa within 90 days.
The introduction of this vessel is in line with the CMA CGM Group’s flexibility, and its strategy of fleet adaptation regarding its clients and markets’ needs. The CMA CGM TIGRIS responds to the Brazilian market specificities:
- Equipped with the largest capacity in reefer plugs on such a ship, the vessel allows an unprecedented loading capacity of meat, poultry and fruits, some of Brazil most exported products,
- Its structure responds to the draft constraints and Brazilian ports infrastructure.
Jean-Yves Duval, Vice President Caribbean and Latin American Lines says that “The introduction of the CMA CGM TIGRIS in Brazil is a major event for CMA CGM, and not only demonstrates the Group’s flexibility and adaptation to its clients’ needs, but also its development strategy and confidence on the Brazilian market. As the first shipping line to introduce the largest vessel capacity in the country, CMA CGM has been striving for excellence and has been constantly upgrading its activities on this trade. The Group aims to push forward its contribution to the Brazilian economy and to continue providing its clients its best offers”
Since the opening of its first office in the country in 2003, CMA CGM has developed its presence and its business in Brazil, where it now has 10 direct lines calling 20 Brazilian ports, and over 300 staff members working in 17 offices.
