MSC Anna, the largest container ship ever to dock at an Indian port, arrived at Mundra Port, operated by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ).

MSC Anna is 399.98 meters long, the equivalent of four football fields, and has a capacity of 19,200 TEUs.

The vessel’s arrival draft of 16.3 metres can only be accommodated by Adani Ports, Mundra, demonstrating the port’s unique ability to handle deep-draft vessels.

MSC Anna will exchange around 12,500 TEUs, demonstrating Mundra Port’s effectiveness in conducting large-scale cargo operations.

Adani Ports commemorated this accomplishment as another instance of Mundra Port’s significant contribution to improving India’s maritime trading capacity.

The firm stated that the arrival of the container ship MSC Anna at Mundra highlights the port’s capacity to handle large vessels and reflects its crucial role in enhancing India’s maritime trade capabilities.

In recent months, Mundra Port has achieved multiple records.

In July 2023, the port welcomed MV MSC Hamburg, one of the largest container ships, with a length of 399 meters and a capacity of 16,652 TEU.

The port extended its record-breaking streak into the second half of 2023, handling 16 million metric tons (MMT) of cargo in October, a first for any Indian port.

Furthermore, the container port CT-3 became the first in India to manage 3 million TEUs in a year, with a monthly handling record of over 300,000 TEUs in November 2023.

APSEZ highlighted its commitment to expanding and modernizing its facilities to maintain its worldwide shipping and logistics leader position.

The company stated that while APSEZ continues to expand and upgrade its facilities, the port will soon have an increasingly significant role in the international shipping and logistics domain.

Mundra Port’s recent accomplishments highlight its expanding importance in the maritime industry, demonstrating its ability to handle some of the world’s largest vessels while managing large cargo quantities efficiently.
