The unfortunate incident occurred while the vessel was berthed at Dordrecht, Netherlands, during the loading of scrap.
The fire rapidly spread to the scrap kept at the quay, producing toxic black smoke.
The firefighting team responded quickly and deployed a massive effort to bring the fire under control.
By 00:30 CEST on June 3rd, the fire was contained, and by 01:00 CEST, it was declared extinguished. Given the scale of the fire, the firefighters classified it as “big.”
After the fire was extinguished, offloading the already-loaded scrap materials began.
