The vessel titled at about 4 pm local time because of a water pump failure which didn’t operate as it was supposed to, says a preliminary report on the situation. However, the real reason for its partial submersion can’t be ascertained until the marine authorities issue the final report.
So far, no injuries have been reported, as everyone was quickly evacuated with the help of the Sawang Boriboon rescue workers.Â
Marine authorities have prevented the ship from drowning by attaching some floating devices. Luckily, it didn’t have any customers at the time as it was closed because of the weather.
Pichet Thanomchat, the vessel’s owner, revealed that they are working with the Marine Department to dock the ship for repairs. He informed the media that the vessel tilted because of water intake on the left side.Â
As the news and pictures of the sinking ship went viral on the internet, many expressed their concern regarding the fate of this tourism landmark.
