Built in Istanbul-based shipyard Sedef, the vessel can be loaded with helicopters, land vehicles, drones, personnel, and light warcraft.
Speaking at the delivery ceremony conducted in Istanbul, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan mentioned that TCG Anadolu, where the heaviest and largest helicopters and drones can successfully take off and land, is the world’s first-ever warship in its field.
He added that the Turkish UCAVs Bayraktar TB3, light attack aircraft Hurjet, and Kizilelma drones could take off and land on from the vessel.
Türkiye will be able to conduct military and humanitarian operations worldwide, courtesy of the ship, which can carry armoured vehicles, the president mentioned.
The ship’s weapon, electronic warfare, combat management, infrared track and search, electro-optical search, torpedo defence systems, laser warning, and radars were also built indigenously.
Nearly 131 sub-contractors took part in the building process, Erdogan mentioned, adding that it can be loaded with a battalion to crisis regions across the Aegean, the Black Sea, and the Mediterranean Sea.
It includes an end-to-end hospital facility and two operating rooms; the president mentioned and added that Türkiye would soon become a game-changer nation by developing next-gen products and systems.
Erdogan mentioned that on Monday, a steel-cutting ceremony was conducted for three new MILGEM warships, which will be built in 36 months.
Weapon systems, as well as sensors, will be indigenously produced for ships.
He mentioned that powerful diplomacy is possible owing to the capable defence industry, adding that Türkiye will commence further projects in the defence industry.
