Saudi Arabia Encourages U.S. To Exercise Restraint As Houthis Target Ships In Red Sea
Per a relevant US security official, a US Navy vessel shot a Yemeni drone on Wednesday in an area ruled by Houthi rebels. In response to the Houthi moves in the Red Sea, Saudi Arabia has allegedly urged the US to exhibit patience.
As tensions between Hamas and Israel continue to rise, the Houthi organization has captured commercial vessels and launched strikes from Saudi territory, raising fears about potential regional ramifications.

According to two sources, Saudi Arabia has pushed to prevent the US from intensifying Houthi attacks on vessels at sea.
The decision comes as Riyadh attempts to control the impact of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, in which the Houthis have linked themselves with Hamas by capturing ships and firing missiles in support of a cease-fire demand.
The presence of the Houthis is especially concerning for Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest oil exporter, which fears an escalation of the conflict that could damage regional interests. The crucial sea routes via which a major share of the world’s oil is moved are of great significance.
According to Reuters, a US Navy vessel shot down Yemen’s drone Wednesday morning in a region controlled by the Houthi rebels.
Sources acquainted with Saudi perspectives underline that Riyadh’s dialogue with Washington underscores Riyadh’s resolve to avoid further escalation in light of the Houthi intensification in attacks on vessels in recent weeks. According to the sources, Saudi Arabia is pleased with the US attitude to the situation so far.
