China Central Television has reported that this marks the ship’s inaugural international mission, offering seismic exploration tech services on a worldwide scale. This move further offers a Chinese solution to the geological exploration problems overseas, advancing worldwide offshore oil and gas development.

Seismic exploration refers to a method of exploring the subterranean structure of natural gas and petroleum. Since the production commenced in 2022, the Ocean Oil 720 has executed seismic exploration in about five areas within the Chinese waters, covering about 6,552 sq kms.
