ISWAN: Seafarers Set To Judge Annual Welfare Awards
Seafarers are to take part for the first time in judging the International Seafarers’ Welfare Awards 2019. The annual awards, which are organised by the International Seafarers’ Welfare and Assistance Network (ISWAN), recognise the best examples of seafarers’ welfare provision across the globe. Seafarers have always been invited to nominate their choice in a range of categories – best ports, seafarers’ centres, shipping companies and welfare personalities – but this year they will also take part in judging the final shortlist and selecting the overall winners.
Roger Harris, executive director of ISWAN, explained that: “We want to showcase the best in welfare provision across the shipping industry, and who better to choose than seafarers themselves?”.
Seafarers can make their nominations at www.seafarerswelfareawards.org/nominate. This year the awards will be sponsored by Inmarsat, the International Chamber of Shipping, Wrist Ship Supply, Garrets and MF Shipping Group.
