The CMA CGM Group, a worldwide leading shipping group, is pleased to have been awarded the International Maritime Centre (Corporate) Award at the Singapore International Maritime Awards 2019, which are organized by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). The award ceremony was held on April 8, 2019, in conjunction with the 14th Singapore Maritime Week. This award recognizes the company which has contributed the most significantly to Singapore’s economy and to its development as an international maritime center.
Mathieu Girardin, Vice President CMA CGM Asia Regional Office, accepted the award on behalf of the Group and declared:
“We are very pleased to receive this award which highlights our commitment to Singapore, where we have established our regional hub for Asia-Pacific and where we have launched a series of initiatives and collaborations with homegrown maritime companies. We are proud to thereby actively contribute to Singapore’s status and development as an international maritime center.”
CMA CGM, a transport and logistics leader committed to Singapore’s maritime development
Since 2016, the Group has set its Regional hub in Singapore, where its subsidiary APL is also headquartered. In Singapore, the CMA CGM Group employs close to 1,000 people and offers more than 100 services per week thanks to its best-in-class network of Ocean Alliance, North-South and Short-Sea lines. Its Fleet Navigation Center for the APAC region is also operated from Singapore. As a testimony to this local commitment, the Group has entered into several strategic partnerships aimed at boosting its presence and developing Singapore as an international maritime center. These include:
CMA CGM’s ZEBOX Box and PSA unboXed
In order to encourage maritime innovation on Singapore’s start-up scene, the CMA CGM Group and PSA International signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2018 to drive digitalization and innovation in the shipping and supply chain ecosystems. This MoU paved the way for a strategic partnership between ZEBOX, CMA CGM’s international incubator and accelerator for innovative start-ups, and PSA unboXed, PSA International’s external innovation and corporate venture, whereby both entities will share resources, key knowledge and expertise.
CMA CGM-PSA Lion Terminal (CPLT)
The CMA CGM Group and PSA International formed a container terminal joint venture named CMA CGM-PSA Lion Terminal, located in Pasir Panjang, in 2016. The terminal has a total operating capacity of 4 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units). This was a significant milestone for the Group in developing a deeper root in Singapore.
