Watch: Drunk Captain Bumps Cargo Ship Into A Bridge In South Korea

In a rather unusual incident, an intoxicated ship captain of a Russian cargo ship veered off course and bumped into a bridge off the southeast coast of South Korea.

The 5,998-ton Seagrand sailed into the side of the Gwangan Bridge before turning back to head in the opposite direction, according to the Korea Coast Guard (KCG).

The accident damaged the lower part of the bridge but there were no injuries.

The vessel was arrested and the captain was detained on charges of sailing under the influence of alcohol. Korea Coast Guard (KCG) reported that the captain had a blood alcohol content of 0.086 percent, which was above the legal limit of 0.03 percent.

Cargo ship Seagrand unloaded 1,495 tons of iron pipes in Busan and was bound for Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday, carrying 1,415 tons of steel coils.
