Watch: Chinese Feeder Vessel Capsizes After Colliding With A Sand Barge

Per reports, a Chinese feeder vessel capsized after hitting a sand barge in Ningbo, China. The incident happened on 17 July.

Over 40 containers onboard the feeder ship fell into the water and are being recovered.

Officials from the Maritime Safety Administration mentioned they were informed of the vessel collision at 10:16 am local time on 17 July. They responded immediately by sending two patrol vessels to the site.

Luckily, all the crew of the 2021-constructed 922 TEU ship, Xin Yuan Long 6, were rescued successfully, and nobody was harmed or seriously injured. However, the sand barge Gang Long Fa Zhan sank later.

The footage from China Central Television showed that the feeder ship listed to its port side.

The feeder ship Xin Yuan Long 6 is owned by Shishi Xinyuanlong Shipping, based in Quanzhou in Fujian province. 

When the collision happened, the vessel had left Zhenhai Harbor in Ningbo on 17 July and was going to Xiamen in Fujian province.

Xin Yuan Long 6 is said to have been shipping containers between Ningbo, Xiamen and Guangzhou.
