Chinese Cruise Ship Adora Magic City Successfully Completes 7-Day Maiden Voyage

The Adora Magic City, China’s first major cruise ship to be built domestically, reached a new milestone in its cruise ship development on Sunday as it concluded its seven-day commercial inaugural trip. On Sunday morning, the ship arrived at the Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal based in Baoshan District with almost 3,000 passengers from 16 nations and regions.

Travellers covered 1,119 nm by boat, visiting Jeju Island in South Korea and Fukuoka and Nagasaki in Japan. Several excursions were planned, and on board, there were talks about the culture and murals of the Mogao Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Gansu Province, northwest China. Zhou Weihong, a passenger, reported that the journey was enjoyable overall.

Adora Magic City has a gross tonnage of 135,500 and a length of 323.6 meters, which allows it to carry up to 5,246 passengers. Forty thousand square meters of communal living and recreational space are spread across 16 stories. This one-of-a-kind cruise vessel was designed specifically for the Chinese market, featuring a blend of East and West in its retail experiences, authentic Chinese and worldwide gourmet food, exciting entertainment, and a vast array of cutting-edge features and facilities.

The chair of China Cruise Technology Development Co Ltd and Adora Cruises, Yang Guobing, stated that the company will consistently improve in response to visitor input. To give customers more fantastic cruise vacations, they intend to introduce medium- and long-distance voyages in the future, according to market demand, stated Yang.

The ship boasts the most excellent duty-free retail area at sea thanks to a partnership with China Duty-Free Group. Its modern shopping centre spans an approximate 2,000 square meter area. A 360-degree sea view rope garden, a realistic and thrilling virtual reality game centre, and a water park with three slides spread across four decks are just a few of the exciting amenities available to kids and teenagers on board.

In collaboration with Dunhuang Academy, the ship’s Art Gallery features sixteen vintage murals depicting the Dunhuang Grottoes. The vessel also has the first-ever live comedy theatre at sea in association with renowned Chinese comedy film and stage play production company Mahua FunAge.
