Two Crew Members Die Aboard Holland America Cruise Ship: Investigation Underway
Two crew members lost their lives aboard a cruise ship belonging to Holland America during an “incident” that took place in the vessel’s engineering space, per the cruise line.
The unrecognized crew members passed away on Friday when Nieuw Amsterdam was at Half Moon Cay located in the Bahamas, per Holland America’s statement.
The cruise line informed that authorities had been notified and that the reason for the accident was being investigated. Crew members have also been offered counselling.
The team at Holland America Line is extremely saddened by this incident and expressed that their thoughts and prayers are with the team members’ loved ones in such a difficult time. The firm’s top priority is crew members’ and guests’ security, safety, and welfare.
The cruise line did not share further information about the crew members. Later, it said that the Bahamas Maritime Authority was heading the investigation. The vessel set sail from Fort Lauderdale on 16 March for a seven-night journey.
