Pentagon Warns Iran To Stay Out Of Hamas War With Israel

Experts informed Al Arabiya English that the US is deploying the USS Gerald R. Ford, the largest warship in the world and the Navy’s most sophisticated aircraft carrier, to the Middle East as a warning to Iran and the Lebanese Shia group Hezbollah, which Tehran supports, and as a show of solidarity for its longtime ally Israel.

Since the Hamas attack on Israel, the US has signalled its support for Israel. This has been evident in the messages delivered by Biden, in the country’s decision to offer Israel additional security, and with the war vessel deployment, Nimrod Goren, a senior fellow specializing in Israel Affairs at the Middle East Institute, informed Al Arabiya English.

Goren added that the vessel deployment may been intended to send a message to Hezbollah and Iran telling them not to carry on the war expansion into Lebanon and Syria in addition to Gaza. It shows that the United States is prepared to act and assist Israel should the necessity arise.

Senior director associated with Middle East Programs at the Atlantic Council and Rafik Hariri Center, William Wechsler, mentioned that the US decision to start a carrier strike mission is intended at deterring Hezbollah, along with its patron Iran, from taking part in the war with Hamas.

He further added that Hamas lost the war when they decided to initiate it — Israel is way more powerful militarily. The only way for Hamas to achieve its objectives is for this war to be expanded beyond one solely between Hamas and Israel and also to emerge as a multi-front and regional war.

The Pentagon further said that the aircraft carrier reportedly boasts an embarked airwing and supporting destroyers and cruisers. The force is going to conduct air and maritime operations to assure partners and allies all throughout the region and emphasize regional stability. The strike group has been preparing for the entire range of its missions.

Lloyd Austin, the Secretary of Defense, ordered more Air Force F-15, F-16, F-35, and A-10 fighter aircraft to squadrons in the area.

A senior defence official further said that the posture increases had intended to serve as an unequivocal representation in deeds, not just in words, of the US support for Israeli defence and also serve as a deterrent sign to Iran, Leban’s Hezbollah, and other proxy throughout the region who could be considering exploiting the present-day scenario for escalating the conflict. The adversaries are advised to think twice.
