Pentagon Sends Aircraft Carrier And Air Defense Systems To The Middle East Amid Rising Tension

The Pentagon is all set to deploy the aircraft carrier USS Eisenhower and air defence systems to the Middle East with the aim of defending the U.S. military forces amid rising tensions between Israel and Hamas, and a string of attacks on U.S. facilities that may have been supported by Iranian groups.

U.S. Defense Secretary, Lloyd Austin, plans to increase the number of air defense units and troops in the Middle East, which also includes a THAAD missile battery and Patriot air defense battalions.

All these military exercises indicate a higher level of preparation for any situation to arise in the near future.

A number of security incidents involving drone and rocket attacks on American bases in Syria and Iraq led to the decision.

It is believed that the attacks are a response to the U.S. for supporting Israel in its ongoing conflict with Hamas. The USS Carney, a destroyer, reportedly intercepted missiles and drones fired from Yemen by the Houthi militia, which is supported by Iran.

The current situation is still unstable, and the U.S. government is closely observing developments.
