North Korea’s Kim Jong Un Calls For “War Preparations” During Shipyard Inspection

Kim Jong Un, the North Korean leader, examined a shipyard and underscored the importance of a decisive naval force in terms of “war preparations”, KCNA reported on Friday.

Kim’s visit is being made public after North Korea successfully tested its submarine-launched cruise missiles (abbreviated SLCM) on Sunday, firing an advanced missile for the second time in the week and accelerating the navy’s nuclear armament, per state media.

During his trip to the Nampho dockyard, a military shipbuilding site referred to as Nampo, Kim was quoted by KCNA as saying that enhancing the navy force is the most critical issue when moving forward with war preparations.

Without giving additional information, KCNA said that Kim was informed of the several warship initiatives for an upcoming “huge plan” determined by North Korea’s leadership.

Kim saw a nuclear submarine being built and talked about the production of other novel warships, per KCNA on Monday. However, the report failed to offer further information.
