After receiving a tip, law enforcement authorities launched an inquiry into the vessel, which was said to have come from Colombia. Intelligence, anti-drug, anti-smuggling, and customs enforcement units worked together on the subsequent operation.

The ship was thoroughly examined, and divers from Kocaeli’s Izmit area were mainly involved in the effort. Through their efforts, the enormous cocaine hoard concealed among the vessel’s coal shipment was discovered.

The ship’s 10-person Filipino crew was quickly taken into custody to be questioned. After going through the police station’s formalities, the suspects were sent to the courts to face legal proceedings. After that, all 10 of them were taken into custody.
