Global Shipping Leaders Gradually Return To Red Sea Navigation

Global shipping majors, including the Denmark-based shipping firm Maersk and Switzerland’s MSC Mediterranean Shipping Co, are looking at resuming their shipping operations in the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea after the UK Maritime Trade Operations (abbreviated the UKMTO) and the Operation Prosperity Guardian (popular as the OPG) strengthened safety all around the Suez Canal.

On December 27, the US military forces declared that they had reportedly shot down more than 12 drone missiles that were launched by the Houthi rebels in the waters of the Red Sea.

There were no damages to vessels in the zone or any reported injuries, the Pentagon’s Central Command mentioned via a post on social media. There were three anti-ship ballistic missiles as well as two land-attack missile threats in about 10 hours.

Maersk, on December 25, stated that it had started preparing to restart its shipping operations in the Red Sea, while the MSC Mediterranean is likely to conduct a high-level meeting on December 27 to decide whether it should restart operations around the Suez Canal.
