Video: Traffic Resumes In Bosphorus Strait After Grounded Ukrainian Cargo Ship Refloats Again
The cargo vessel MKK 1, sailing to Turkey from Ukraine, was reportedly grounded in the Bosphorus Strait of Istanbul on Monday. The traffic in the strait was reportedly suspended for a few hours.
The coastguard authority reported several tugs among the vessels sent to offer aid to the ship. It mentioned that no damages or spills were reported.
Television footage reflected the vessel’s bow, loaded with 13,000 tons of peas, grounded near the coastline on the Bosphorus’ Asian side.

The Joint Coordination Centre based in Istanbul runs the operations related to the UN-brokered Black Sea grain deal; mentioned during the weekend, the vessel was travelling to the port of Mersin from Pivdennyi.
The Palau-flagged general cargo vessel was reportedly grounded at Acarburnu toward the strait’s northern end on Monday as it was headed southbound.
