Cadeler, a global leader in offshore wind installation, has announced the arrival of Wind Peak, its newest and most advanced installation vessel.

Cadeler acquired Wind Peak, the first of seven new builds under contract, during a ceremony at the COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry shipyard in Qidong, China.

The state-of-the-art P-class jack-up vessel is designed to meet the increasing demand worldwide for offshore wind energy by handling massive wind turbine components with unparalleled efficiency.

Mikkel Gleerup, CEO of Cadeler, stated that the vessel results from years of unwavering effort and commitment to satisfying their customer’s evolving demands. Gleerup further praised the vessel’s timely delivery and adherence to budget.

The Wind Peak, along with its sister vessel, Wind Pace, which is currently under development, is designed to operate in some of the world’s most difficult offshore installation sites.

The vessels feature advanced technology and a large capacity. They can transport and install up to seven 15 MW turbines or five 20+ MW turbines per load, reducing installation time and carbon footprint and increasing overall efficiency.

Liang Yanfeng, Chairman of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industries, added that the vessel’s hybrid-oil electric power technology and design position it among the market’s most advanced offshore wind turbine installation vessels.

The P-class vessels boast exceptional features, including a deck space of 5,600 m², a payload capacity surpassing 17,600 tons, and a main crane with a lifting capacity of over 2,500 tons at 53 meters.

The vessels can accommodate up to 130 crew members and technicians. The most distinctive feature of the P-class vessels is that they are designed to use biofuels and incorporate an electrical system for energy conservation and reuse.

Cadeler’s partnership with COSCO, GustoMSC NOV, Huisman, Kongsberg, and MAN Energy was essential for constructing the P-class vessels.

Wind Peak’s sister ship, Wind Pace, is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2025. Both vessels will be registered in Denmark.
