U.S Navy & Indian Naval Force Conduct Joint Exercise in the Indian Ocean
Showcasing the strong military partnership between India and the U.S, the Indian Navy and the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group of the U.S Navy undertook a joint exercise in the Indian Ocean.
Indian Navy vessels INS Aditya and INS Visakhapatnam participated in the Maritime Partnership Exercise with the U.S Naval Carrier Strike Group in the Arabian Sea on July 12, 2024.
The Nimitz Class Aircraft Carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, Arleigh Burke-Class Guided Missile Destroyer USS Daniel Inouye and Carrier Air Wing 11 participated from the U.S side.
The exercise showed the two nations’s shared commitment to uphold an open and free Indo-Pacific.
The U.S Embassy In New Delhi said in a press statement that the U.S and Indian forces focused on increasing maritime awareness and information sharing, including enhancing replenishment and logistics interoperability and bettering their air capabilities.
Also, the Indian Navy is participating in the Rim of Pacific 2024 exercise which is ongoing in Hawaii. Indian Frigate INS Shivalik which was deployed in the South China Sea and the North Pacific arrived in Pearl Harbour, Hawaii for RIMPAC, the largest naval exercise in the world involving about 29 countries.
The Indian Navy has conducted many naval exercises with the U.S Navy across different regions, including the Pacific, Africa and Southwest Asia.
India and the U.S, are a part of the Quad Security Dialogue along with Japan and Australia also conduct Malabar exercises, the latest of which will be hosted by India in October in the Bay of Bengal.
