IIT Madras Launches World’s First Online MBA In Digital Maritime & Supply Chain
IIT Madras has launched the world’s first online MBA in digital maritime and supply chain management.
The innovative 24-month program, developed in collaboration with the Departments of Management Studies and Ocean Engineering and industry partner i-maritime Consultancy, aims to provide global professionals with cutting-edge skills for navigating the digital transformation of maritime trade and supply chain management.
The online MBA program combines online learning with on-campus immersion modules, providing a unique combination of flexibility and comprehensive education.
The two-year program, designed for working professionals worldwide, requires participants to complete 192 credits through 20 core courses and 12 elective courses, including practical projects focused on digital transformation.
The curriculum incorporates cutting-edge technologies such as AI, Blockchain, IoT, and Machine learning, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to tackle modern challenges in the maritime industry.
The eligibility requirements include a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 60% and at least two years of full-time job experience.
The admission process comprises an online IIT Madras Admission Test and personal interviews.
The course fee of Rs 9 Lakh can be paid in instalments, and up to 50% of scholarships are available with bank financing options.
The first batch is set to begin in September 2024.
Participants will attend 900 hours of classroom sessions, project work, and six on-campus immersion modules lasting four to seven days each.
The program structure promotes flexibility by accommodating professionals’ schedules while providing substantial networking opportunities and access to IIT Madras’ renowned faculty and resources.
Upon completing the program, the graduates will receive prestigious IIT Madras Alumni status and lifetime access to the Digital Maritime Library.
The program focuses on career mobility and worldwide job opportunities, with support from IIT Madras’ Incubation and Start-up Platform for entrepreneurial initiatives.
It promotes a thorough awareness of digital technologies in maritime and supply chain contexts, increasing marketability and leadership potential in a fast-paced business environment.
The curriculum addresses real-world business challenges using a Maritime case method by a faculty of industry experts and academics.
It uses AI, blockchain, and machine learning to provide practical solutions and offers international networking opportunities through online and on-campus sessions.
