Houthis Target U.S Navy Aircraft Carrier Dwight D. Eisenhower In Retaliatory Attack
The spokesperson of the Houthi Group, Yahya Saree, said that their forces attacked the U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier Dwight D. Eisenhower to retaliate against the aggression shown by the U.S. and the U.K.
U.S. officials have denied this, saying they weren’t even aware of any such activities around the aircraft carrier in question.
Per Houthis, the aircraft carrier was attacked with missiles in the Red Sea, and the attack was accurate and direct.
It was in response to the Israeli attack on Rafah, which killed 58 people, along with attacks by the United States and Britain on Houthi-controlled territories in Yemen, which killed 16 and injured 41, including civilians.
U.S. Central Command confirmed that they found threats, and on the afternoon of May 30, 8 UAVs were launched by the Houthis in the Red Sea. However, they did not hit any ships.
Houthi spokesperson mentioned targeting 129 ships since November 2023, and last week, they launched 27 missiles and several drones at their targets in the Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean.
Just one strike, with three hits, was confirmed on a Greek-owned bulk carrier, Laax, sailing under the Marshall Islands Flag. The ship was on its way to Iran, shipping grain. Photos by the French forces showed two large holes near its waterline.
The U.K. conducted a joint operation on Houthi targets to decrease their capacity for attacking ships.
Two places close to Hudaydah were targeted since they were used to keep drones and other weapons. They also targeted Houthis’ command and control facilities.
Per CENTCOM, 13 sites were the target. The statement mentioned that these actions were vital for protecting international shipping and making navigation safer and more secure for U.S. ships and other vessels.
