The Houthis claimed to have targeted the U.S. Navy’s Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group on Friday, in what would be the seventh time the Group has claimed to attack the formation.

This casts doubts on whether Houthis would stop attacks on ships in the Red Sea after a ceasefire agreement was reached between Israel and Hamas.

Leader of the Group, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said in a speech on Thursday, that they will monitor the ceasefire which will begin on Sunday and will begin attacks if the ceasefire is violated by Israel.

However, in his Friday speech, Houthi spokesman Yahya Sare’e said that the group carried out
missile attacks on Israel and drone strikes on the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group.

The U.S. Central Command has not responded to this claim. It remains unclear whether the Houthis will stop their actions against Israel and Red Sea shipping. Al-Houthi had said that if Israel would continue its military actions in Gaza, Houthis would continue with their attacks.

There have been several reports that Israel is bombing Gaza in the days leading up to the beginning of the ceasefire.

Al-Houthi devoted most of his speech, which was shared on X, stating that the ceasefire is a clear sign of the U.S and Israel’s failure in destroying Gaza.
