Russia Says It Hit Ukrainian Data Centre And Military Cargo Ship At Chornomorsk Port

Russia said its forces struck a data centre in Odesa and a cargo ship at Chornomorsk Port in Ukraine. In a separate incident, a Ukrainian drone attack damaged a data centre operated by Russian technology company Yandex, forcing it to stop operations at the site.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said the strikes in Ukraine targeted data centres, port facilities and ships that it claimed were supporting the Ukrainian military. The extent of the damage has not been independently confirmed.
The ministry said Russian forces hit the Tenet data centre in Odesa, which it claimed was used by the Ukrainian military to process, send and store information.
It also said a dry cargo ship carrying what it described as military supplies was hit at Chornomorsk Port. The ministry did not name the ship or its owner, identify the cargo or say what happened to the crew. It also did not provide details about the damage.
In another statement, Russia’s Defence Ministry said its air defences destroyed 479 Ukrainian drones over different regions overnight. It did not give further details about where the drones were intercepted.
Yandex said a drone attack damaged its data centre in Russia’s Vladimir region, east of Moscow. The company suspended all operations at the facility.
The company said in a service alert on Telegram that the attack had damaged the data centre’s infrastructure.
Yandex said no one was injured. Emergency services arrived at the site, and the company began assessing the damage and how to restore operations.
The company said its platform was running in emergency mode and advised users to activate their disaster-recovery plans.
Yandex also warned that its remaining resources were unstable and that users might have trouble contacting technical support while the company dealt with the damage.
Yandex operates Russia’s most popular search engine. It also runs food delivery and taxi services used by tens of millions of people. The attack in Vladimir was the third reported attack on a Yandex data centre in a week.
On Friday, the company said a drone attack damaged a facility in the Kaluga region. Several modules went out of service, disrupting some of its services.
The night before, another attack caused a fire at a Yandex facility in the Ryazan region. The incident led to major outages affecting transport and e-commerce platforms.
Yandex has not provided a full account of the damage across its facilities following the three reported attacks.
Chornomorsk, near Odesa on the Black Sea, is an important port for Ukrainian transport and trade.
