Oil Giant ADNOC Says 15 Vessels Attacked In Strait Of Hormuz Since Conflict Began

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) said on Friday that 15 of its vessels had been attacked by missiles and drones while passing through the Strait of Hormuz since the start of the conflict.
Three ADNOC vessels were attacked this week alone, leaving one crew member dead and 20 injured, the company said.
ADNOC said the attacks on its people and assets were having a significant impact on its operations as it tries to meet customer requirements in what it called an “exceptionally challenging environment.”
The Strait of Hormuz, between Iran and Oman, is the world’s most important oil shipping chokepoint. Roughly a fifth of global oil consumption passes through the waterway.
Shipping through the strait has been repeatedly disrupted since the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran expanded into a wider regional conflict. Attacks on commercial vessels have also pushed up freight rates and increased security concerns.
ADNOC is one of the world’s largest energy producers and exports crude oil, natural gas and refined products to customers around the world.
The Abu Dhabi state oil company said it was working closely with relevant authorities and taking all necessary steps to protect its people, assets and operations while continuing to meet customer requirements as much as possible.
“Freedom of navigation and the safe, uninterrupted passage of commercial shipping through international waterways must be respected and protected without threat, harassment or attack,” ADNOC said.
The company did not provide further details about the individual attacks or identify those responsible.
ADNOC said it remained focused on protecting its people, assets and operations while working with the relevant authorities. It also said it would continue trying to meet customer requirements despite the difficult operating environment.
