Indian Navy Evacuates Injured Vietnamese Mariner From Merchant Ship Near Andaman And Nicobar Islands

The Indian Navy carried out the evacuation of an injured Vietnamese citizen from the merchant ship MT Sun 09 located in proximity to Indira Point in Andaman and Nicobar Islands following an incident of medical emergency at sea on October 4.

Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) conducted the early morning medical evacuation by deploying a ship from its naval component towards the region of Indira Point.

The injured crew member was transported from the merchant ship using boat operations and received immediate first aid on the naval ship.

After the initial medical intervention, the condition of the casualty stabilised. He was then evacuated to Campbell Bay for further medical attention.

Coordination between the naval component and the merchant ship was essential in transporting the injured individual from the ship and making sure that he received further medical care.

Andaman and Nicobar Command is responsible for securing the Andaman and Nicobar Islands region and conducting maritime security and surveillance in the area and coordinating assistance and rescue operations in the region.
