This category has small ships with fewer people and a laid-back atmosphere with more attentive service. Dining is given a lot of importance, with gourmet and destination-based cuisine with an inclusive fare.

6. Luxury Hotel Barges

Hotel Barges became famous in the late 1900s, and operate on canals and rivers of Scotland, France, Germany and Belgium. The luxury barges come in different sizes and offer different quality of accommodations and quality of catering.

The biggest barges can accommodate around 24 guests and have a high crew-to-guest ratio. The smaller ones provide more personal attention and have a more intimate environment.

7. Specialty Lines

These types of cruise lines are for seasoned travellers and those who want to have a quiet, peaceful experience on a small vessel like a yacht, sail-assisted ships and dual-purpose passenger and cargo ships. Lines that fall into this category include Island Windjammers, Ponant, Star Clippers, Festiva Sailing Vacations, Bora Bora Cruises etc.

These cruise lines are for adults looking for a relaxing getaway or those who seek a historically or culturally rich vacation.
