Tiger Woods’ Yacht: SS Privacy
He might have been in the news for all the wrong reasons, but Golf legend Tiger Woods is undeniably one of the richest people in the world. And although his wealth might have bought him many envious things, one of the things he might be very proud of would be his luxury yacht, SS Privacy.
Built by the Seattle based shipyard, Christensen, SS privacy was bought by Woods in the 2004 for a whopping $20 million. Ironically named Privacy, since his private life was anything but private last year, this expensive yacht has come to be the desire and envy of many. Tiger Woods’s expensive yacht was apparently a wedding gift to his wife Elin Nordegren, who divorced him last year following a very public and turbulent turn of events.
Taken over three years to build, Woods’s yacht is 155 foot with a 29.5 beam and has one master suite and six staterooms. The 6500 square-foot wonder can sleep almost twenty-one people and has been indulgently decorated with dark cherry wood. The walls are covered in white silk and the furniture has been covered with upholstered leather throughout giving it a rich and expensive feel. The boat’s deck includes a grand bar and a Jacuzzi big enough to sit eight people.
The handrails of the beautiful staircase are also done in the splendid cherry-wood but the steps are transparent for a more floating appearance. Besides the staircase there is an elevator which can hold 3 people. The master or the VIP stateroom lies towards the stern of the yacht and two queen-sized rooms are located in the middle of the vessel. There are two twin cabins one of which has been converted in to a fitness room that is fully equipped with a treadmill, free-weights and spinning bike.
On a more technical side, this expensive yacht is built with Trideck fiberglass and looks a true masterpiece. The yacht is fitted with a pair of 1800 hp MTU/Detroit diesel motor and the electrical power is supplied by two 99kilowatts Northern Lights generators. Equipped with a station to fill scuba tanks and inflatable decompression chamber, you can be sure that this yacht is pure luxury from the fact that it often carries two SeaDoos, two Vespa scooters and two ocean kayaks on board. And for those of you who were wondering about entertainment on board, Tiger Wood’s yacht will not disappoint, as it comes with a state-of -the-art theater projection system.
Tiger Woods might have bought this luxurious wonder of the water to spend his family life in a little bit of privacy, but with everything that has happened, he should really reconsider changing the name of the yacht. Although the rumor mills are churning out stories of Woods allegedly putting his dream yacht up for sale, there could be a little bad news for him as far as selling the vessel is concerned. The yacht market has gone down severely since the flourishing days of business in 2004 when Woods had bought this expensive yacht. But what with the failing economy and recession, he might have to sell his pretty boat for 20 to 30% below the original price.
But whatever the situation might be, the fact is that Tiger Wood’s heavenly vessel is the stuff only “rich” dreams are made of. It is an ostentatious yet luxurious creation, which deserves to be appreciated for what it is. And whoever said that money cannot buy happiness, obviously never saw SS Privacy.
