On Wednesday, US Central Command dismissed the Iranian claim that the Strait of Hormuz was closed. An adviser to the IRGC commander told the Fars News Agency that routes Iran considers illegal would be shut down.

CENTCOM called the claim false on X, stating that the US and regional partners controlled the waterways and that, at that moment, many oil shipments, including commercial and energy traffic, were moving.

The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmaeil Baghaei, said Tehran had laid out its conditions for ending the war and proposed a dialogue through US mediators. He said that Iran and Oman had agreed on safe route coordinates during the transit and expected to take the matter to the relevant international authority soon.

Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister, said Iran was serious about diplomacy while defending itself. He said that the US had rejected the seven-day plan to reopen the strait at the UN General Assembly, just a day later.

Trump commented on the Iranian oil minister’s resignation, which was dismissed by the government’s spokesperson, Fatemeh Mohajerani, saying that a resignation showed a flexible and stable system.

Trump claimed that the strait belonged to the US Navy and the naval measures were a “wall of steel”. He also said the war would end very quickly and oil prices would fall drastically. He added it was only a question of finishing things “the nice way or the not-so-nice way”.

According to the sources, the Pentagon has been told to be ready, and CENTCOM has been told to get prepared, but no date has been set. A new campaign would likely include extensive strikes on overall Iranian infrastructure and resume combat. Trump also spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The war commenced with the US and Israeli strikes on Iran and the Strait of Hormuz on 28 February and has continued since then. The ongoing war has unsettled the markets for energy and fuel and has become a political problem.
