U.S Navy Sinks 9 Iranian Naval Ships & Destroys Navy Headquarters
The U.S Navy sank 9 Iranian naval ships and destroyed Iran’s Naval Headquarters, U.S President Donald Trump said on Sunday.
Apart from material losses, he stated that around 48 top military and political leaders were killed in the US-Israeli attacks on the country, while adding that the offensive is ‘very positive.’
He said that they were quite successful in the war, which began on Saturday, to remove the Islamic Republic of Iran’s leadership and destroy its military.
From the U.S side, three service members died, and other 5 were seriously wounded while more were lightly injured.
Central Command (CENTCOM) also announced that the US had sunk an Iranian warship at a dock in the Gulf of Oman.
In response, Iran also targeted three US and UK tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.
A ship off Oman was hit by a projectile above the waterline, leading to an engine room fire, though it has now been brought under control, per the British maritime security agency UKMTO.
In another incident, a ship was hit by a missile, causing an onboard fire, which has now been extinguished, and the vessel is continuing its journey.
The private maritime security company Vanguard Tech stated that a tanker 17 nautical miles northwest of Mina Saqr in the United Arab Emirates was also attacked.
A projectile exploded close to a ship 35 nm west of Sharjah. Fortunately, nobody on board died, and the crew were rescued.
