World’s First Zero-Emission Ro-Pax Ferry Powered By Zinus Technology
In a benchmark assignment that highlights a major milestone for the maritime industry as well as sustainable transportation, Zinus is very proud to declare that it has won a deal to supply Autonomous Charging Solution to the world’s first-ever lightweight, zero-emissions Ro-Pax ferry. A LEAP FORWARD
Such an ambitious endeavour is spearheaded by Incat Tasmania, a popular name in shipbuilding, and commissioned by the South American customer dubbed Buquebús. The ferry will be operating between Uruguay and Argentina, providing eco-friendly and more efficient transportation facilities to as many as 2,100 guests as well as 225 vehicles. Zinus is going to be supplying an Autonomous Charging Solution that includes the SWC200 Onboard Unit as well as the ZPP800 Charging Tower Solution. The technology is going to permit the vessel to seamlessly connect to the shore and also efficiently charge its batteries.
The significance of the assignment cannot be overstated, mentioned Ronny Olson, the Sales Manager associated with Zinus. The Ro-Pax ferry reportedly represents a massive leap toward decarbonized maritime operations. SETTING NEW STANDARDS
What sets the project apart is the scale and the innovation involved. The electric ferry has an overall length of about 130 meters, making it the biggest vessel of its type. The battery modules, as well as the energy storage system on board, are about four times larger than the ones on other electric/hybrid vessels presently in operation.
The Autonomous Charging Solution from Zinus has also been designed and prepared to handle the heightened demand, with double the output of current compared to the earlier systems. The output capacity for the solution is a whopping 16000A DC / 8000A AC, enabling more efficient as well as rapid charging.
With Zinus’s unique charging solution, the Ro-Pax ferry is going to be set to operate on zero emissions, reportedly making it a flagship instance of what a more sustainable maritime transportation could be.
