Russia Says Drone Strikes Hit Ukrainian Port Infrastructure And Cargo Ship

Russia said that its forces carried out overnight drone strikes on logistics centres, ports, transport facilities, communications sites and vessels that Moscow said were linked to the Ukrainian military on Sunday, September 27.

The Russian defence ministry said the strikes hit a data centre in Kyiv and logistics hubs in the Kyiv and Odesa regions. It also said two drone storage facilities in Mykolaiv were hit.

The ministry said the headquarters of a naval base and Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service were also targeted.

At Kiliya port, Russia said its forces hit four military storage sites. It also said a cargo ship carrying military and dual-use goods to Odesa was struck.

Later on Sunday, the Russian defence ministry reported more strikes. It said two data centres in Kyiv, a logistics hub in Odesa and another cargo vessel heading to Odesa were hit.

Russia did not name either vessel or say how badly the ships were damaged. It also did not say whether the strikes affected other commercial ships or port operations.

Kyivstar, Ukraine’s largest mobile service provider, said its head office was hit on Sunday, according to local media. The company said no one was killed or injured.

The Russian defence ministry said communications centres and data centres were among the targets of its strikes.

Ukraine’s General Staff said its forces struck a Russian drone launch facility in the occupied Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine.

The General Staff said sites used to store, prepare and launch attack drones were a priority for Ukrainian forces.

It also said Ukrainian forces hit several sites used by the Russian military overnight, including fuel and ammunition storage facilities, Ukrainian news agency UNN reported.

UNN reported that two ammunition dumps and a logistics site were hit in the occupied Luhansk region. A fuel depot in Donetsk was also hit.

The Ukrainian claims could not be independently verified.
