Watch: US Forces Seize Sixth Venezuela‑Linked Oil Tanker In Caribbean Sea
Officials said the tanker had been operating in defiance of a US-imposed quarantine on vessels transporting sanctioned Venezuelan oil.
Officials said the tanker had been operating in defiance of a US-imposed quarantine on vessels transporting sanctioned Venezuelan oil.
The ministry stated that these measures include restricting unnecessary movement and limiting crew exposure outside the vessel.
The vessel was intercepted on 8 December 2025 in international waters near Dibba Port, off the UAE coast.
The port was named the world’s leading container port in DNV-Menon’s inaugural Leading Container Ports of the World report.
The tanker, now called Marinera and previously known as Bella-1, was seen in the Moray Firth in northern Scotland.
The vessel is named after Kaundinya, the legendary Indian mariner who sailed across the Indian Ocean to Southeast Asia.
Staying outside port limits reduces the risk of damage if air strikes were to hit nearby port facilities, which are considered more exposed.
One crew member suffered a dislocated shoulder and was given medical treatment at the Canal Mooring and Lights Company hospital.
Automated launch and recovery significantly reduces risk to sailors, expands mission range and flexibility, and shortens mission timelines.
