The latest IMB Piracy Report shows 49 piracy incidents in the first quarter of 2014 – the lowest first quarter figure since 2007, when 41 incidents were recorded.

Caterpillar Marine is pleased to announce the first shipment of Cat® 3500 series marine gas engines from its Lafayette, Indiana manufacturing facility. Five Cat G3516 marine engines were selected to power the Becker Marine Systems subsidiary, Hybrid Port Energy, LNG-Hybrid Barge, the world’s first LNG-powered barge in the Port of Hamburg.
The innovative multi-purpose salvage ice class ship Baltika of 7 MW power capacity returned to the port of Helsinki on 30 March 2014, after the second stage of sea trials. The equipment adjustment, functional check of main systems and propulsion characteristics have confirmed the readiness of the ship.
The world’s largest container ship propeller was loaded onto the Hyundai Together at the HHLA Container Terminal Altenwerder on 15th March about noon. The ‘HHLA IV’ floating crane lifted the giant propeller, measuring 10.3 metres in diameter, weighing 113 tonnes and boasting five blades, from its pontoon into the belly of the ship.
