A Liberian-flagged bulk carrier suffered an onboard fire while it was docked at the Bayuquan Port in China’s Liaoning Province on January 3, 2025.

The 58,000 DWT Rotterdam Peral V was caught up in flames around 21:40 local time after people heard a loud siren followed by smoke rising from the ship.

Crew members tried to douse the fire while requesting assistance from the port authorities, who sent rescue teams and fireboats.

The fire was extinguished after a few hours, and no injuries were reported.

An investigation into the cause of the incident has begun.

The ship was detained at the port terminal since December 31, 2025, after it failed a port state control inspection.
