US Navy Awards $516 Million Contract To Austal For Building Lead Ship Of Its Ocean Surveillance Program

The US Navy has awarded Austal a $516 million contract to build the lead ship of its ocean surveillance program.

Austal Ltd. will design and construct the lead vessel, T-AGOS 25, for the Navy's Tactical Auxiliary General Ocean Surveillance program.

The initial contract covers $113.9 million for exclusive design, with options to build up to seven more ships.

On May 31, the Navy expanded the contract, allowing Austal to procure necessary materials for construction.

T-AGOS vessels support anti-submarine warfare missions for the Pacific and Atlantic Fleets, operated by the US Military Sealift Command.

Austal’s new contract signifies a significant step in bolstering US naval surveillance and anti-submarine warfare capacities.
