The USS Normandy (CG 60) arrived in Rijeka, Croatia for a scheduled port visit and mid-deployment voyage repair on July 26, 2023.
The port visit to Rijeka strengthens the relationship between the United States and Croatia and showcases the commitment to European regional allies.
Capt. Errol A. Robinson, commanding officer of USS Normandy, expressed gratitude for choosing Croatia for mid-deployment maintenance availability.
Normandy's crew will have the opportunity to explore the rich history and culture of Croatia during their stay in Rijeka.
Normandy's Sailors will also participate in a community relations project organized by the ship's Religious Ministry Team.
The last U.S. Navy vessel to visit Croatia was the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) on June 27, 2023.
The Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group (GRFCSG) includes USS Normandy, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 8, and Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 2, among others.
U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa area of operations is where CSG-12, Gerald R. Ford CSG, is currently deployed to defend U.S., allied, and partner interests.
