The USS Midway was commissioned on September 10, 1945, just days after the end of World War II.

It was the largest ship in the world at the time and the first carrier to be built after the war.

Over the next few decades, the Midway was deployed to various locations around the world, including the Korean Peninsula, Vietnam, and the Middle East.

It adopted an angled flight deck, which allowed for safer landings and takeoffs.

After 47 years of service, the USS Midway was decommissioned in 1992 and turned into a museum in San Diego.
