The USS Makin Island, USS John P. Murtha, and 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit completed the Cobra Gold 2023 exercise in Thailand on March 10.
During the exercise, they partnered with several navies from the region, including the Royal Thai, Japanese Navies.

The Makin Island conducted a casualty evacuation drill which ensures medical personnel are trained to receive casualties.
The Cobra Gold exercise provides a venue for the United States and partner nations to advance interoperability.
Approximately 20 nations and 6,000 U.S. personnel participated in the exercise directly or as observers.
Cobra Gold is one of the largest multilateral theater security cooperation exercises in the Indo-Pacific.
The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
