US Navy Takes Delivery Of Virginia-class New Jersey Submarine

HII has confirmed that its Newport News Shipbuilding branch had successfully delivered a fast-attack submarine dubbed the New Jersey to the US Navy.

Virginia-class New Jersey is the 11th Virginia-class submarine delivered by HII-NNS and the 23rd co-produced by General Dynamics Electric Boat.

Over 10,000 shipbuilders from Electric Boat and NNS were involved in constructing New Jersey Submarine.

New Jersey is the first submarine in the Virginia class to be designed and have crew gender integration.

New Jersey was christened on 13 November 2021 at NNS by Susan DiMarco, the ship’s sponsor, a resident of New Jersey.

Virginia-class fast-attack submarines allow the Navy to retain the nation’s undersea supremacy into the 21st century.

They have greater stealth, advanced surveillance capabilities, and special warfare modifications, which enable them to cater to the Navy’s multi-mission objectives.
