US Navy Ship Heading To Gaza Returns to Florida After Engine Room Fire
A US Navy Ship en route to Gaza to build a temporary pier suffered a mishap and returned to Florida.
On Thursday, the cargo ship 2nd Lt. John P. Bobo suffered from engine room fire while on its way to the Mediterranean Sea.
It turned back on one engine to Jacksonville, Florida, on Tuesday.
The crew evacuated the area and used portable extinguishers to extinguish the fire.
All crew members and military personnel were accounted for, and no injuries were reported.
An investigation into the incident has begun, and a defence official stated that discussions are ongoing on whether Bobo can complete the mission or if any other ship must be deployed.
Bobo was one of three Naval ships joining five Army ships to build a humanitarian pier using the capability of Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore, or JLOTS.
