U.S Naval forces intercepted more than 2,000 Assault Rifles  from a fishing vessel in the Gulf of Oman on Jan 6.

A United States Navy boarding team from the coastal patrol vessel USS Chinook (PC 9), initially locate and seize the weapons.

The intercepted vessel formerly used to transport illegal cargo to Yemen's Houthi rebels and was manned by six Yemeni nationals.

The supply or transfer of arms to the Houthis violates UN Security Council Resolution 2216 and international law.

In the past two months, the US 5th Fleet has also stopped two other fishing vessels smuggling deadly aid from Iran to Yemen.

The U.S. Fifth Fleet's area of ​​operations includes the Gulf of Arabia, Oman, Red Sea, parts of Indian Ocean, the Strait of Hormuz Strait, Bab Al Mandeb, and Suez Canal.
