The USS Massachusetts is the 12th submarine delivered by HII's Newport News Shipbuilding division to the US Navy.

It is the 9th US Navy vessel named after the state of Massachusetts.

The christening ceremony of the future Virginia-class submarine took place outside the Module Outfitting Facility at NNS.

More than 2,000 guests, including NNS employees, US Navy personnel, and government officials, attended the ceremony.

The USS Massachusetts is the 25th submarine in the Virginia-class and the 12th to be delivered by NNS.

The pressure hull of SSN 798 was completed by HII in August of last year, marking a significant milestone in the construction process.

The Virginia-class submarines are designed with stealth, firepower, mobility, and endurance capabilities to support various maritime strategies.
