US Navy Chief Petty Officer Sentenced to 18 Years for Attempted Espionage

US Navy’s Chief Petty Officer Bryce Pedicini from Japan received an 18-year sentence for attempted espionage.

Pedicini was convicted of attempted espionage, failure to follow a general order, and attempting to violate another order.

He offered classified and national defense information to an unidentified government representative.

Pedicini was arrested by NCIS on May 19, 2023, following an investigation that started in November 2022.

The NCIS investigation aimed to prevent foreign adversaries from exploiting US Navy personnel.

An appellate review will examine the dismissal of a charge related to the communication of defense information.

Despite the review, the Navy believes it will not impact Pedicini's 18-year sentence.
