US Department of Energy’s First Hybrid Research Vessel “ RV Resilience “ Delivered

RV Resilience, the US Department of Energy’s First Hybrid Research Vessel, has been delivered.

Designed by Incat Crowther and built by Snow & Company, RV Resilience marks a new era for the Department of Energy’s research.

This 15-meter catamaran is the DOE’s first hybrid electric-diesel research vessel, expanding sustainable research in Sequim Bay, Washington.

RV Resilience was named one of Workboat Magazine’s 10 Significant Boats of 2024, highlighting its innovative design.

With a 28m² deck, A-frame, boom crane, and movable davit, RV Resilience is built for complex scientific missions.

Designed for six scientists, it features multiple workstations and convertible sleeping arrangements for multiday assignments.

Its parallel hybrid-electric system allows silent, emission-free operation at 7 knots, ideal for sensitive acoustic measurements.

RV Resilience’s large working deck supports larger instruments and uncrewed vehicles, enhancing R&D capabilities

RV Resilience is more than a research vessel; it’s a platform for innovation, collaboration, and sustainable science at sea.
