The United States offered aerial intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance support to the United Kingdom Royal Navy's interdiction operation in the Gulf of Oman on Feb. 23.

The operation resulted in the seizure of an illegal weapons shipment from Iran.

The Royal Navy's HMS Lancaster (F229) intercepted a small boat originating from Iran and seized anti-tank guided missiles and missile components.

UK forces seized Iranian-made Dehlavieh anti-tank guided missiles and medium-range ballistic missile components from packages discovered.

This interdiction of illegal weapons is the seventh such incident in the past three months and highlights Iran's growing malignant maritime activities in the region.

The route where the interdiction took place has a past record of illicit weapons smuggling to Yemen.

US and UK naval forces collaborate on a regular basis to conduct joint maritime security operations aimed at disrupting the flow of illegal cargo in Middle East waters.
